Old  Cheap SSL certificates - from $14/y

If anyone is looking for a good cheap SSL certificate we're currently offering full 128bit Quick Validation certificates from SBS and RapidSSL for the low low prices only $14 (£8) per year. Plus a host of other SSL certs from Geotrust all at great value.

$14 per year is really very cheap but is it quality?
I use SSL certificate from ********.biz for $27.95 per year but the quality is very nice.

Both the SBS and RapidSSL certs are excellent quality, we use them on our main site https://www.servwise.com/en-us/contact.php for places like the contact area and user management area and for a number of other sites, we have had many people buying them and none have complained.

The only difference between the Quick SSL certificates and some more expensive certificates (which we also sell at very good prices too) is that they are quick so they don't check the business for legitimacy etc they just check the whois of the domain and Verify domain ownership via email.

In terms of security they are true 128bit SSL root certificates that work in 99.3% of all web browsers and secure the data just as securely as every other 128bit SSL certificate but in terms of trust they are not particularly trust worthy in that anyone with a domain name can get one.

However they do secure the domain and so if you trust the domain you are browsing then it shouldn't be a problem.

For the price we think they are excellent.

By the way, your $27.95 certificate is exactly the same (Domain owner only validation) certificate type to our own RapidSSL or QuickSBS certificates.

However yours are issued by Starfield Secure Certification Authority who I have never heard off where as our RapidSSL certificates are issued by Equifax Secure Global eBusiness which I have certainly heard off.

I know which one I would trust more.

Virtually nothing apart from the issuer. I prefer the rapidSSL ones purely because I have used them a lot and equifax is a know name.

SSL certificates are desirable but not necessary feature IMO.

I don't think anyone inferred that they were, but I bet you feel a little more comfortable if you know when entering personal information that it's encrypted between you and the site your posting it too?

And when it comes to financial information or ecommerce then No SSL = No Sale.

For $14 a year it really is a small price to pay.
