Hi from Chicago
Hi everyone,
Heard about this forum while at another forum. I've been scouring the web for ideas on how to develop www.links.com. Right now it is a blog/directory, but I would like to find ideas and people (especially here in Chicago) that can help me develop it into something much bigger. So, here I am.
Looking forward to chatting with everyone.
Rich

Hey Rich,
I think that domain is just too powerful to serve as a blog directory. You should be making millions off of that beauty. And I think you will. Hold on to it, even though I'm sure you've gotten some offers that were hard to turn down. Develope it into something more. Don't be afraid to put some money into it, I'm talking thousands. It will pay off.
Oh yeah... I would say welcome, but i'm new here too. haha.

Hi there guys,
Thanks for the welcome and the encouragement.
I am a bit embarrassed that I have not found an idea for the domain yet, but realistically, it is difficult coming up with new "out-of-the-box" ideas. So I am just going to wait patiently until the right idea comes along. I am more inclined to doing something of quality like BlogCritics as opposed to Fark (my own biases).
I was thinking possibly of doing something like BlogCritics, but very focused on technology. That is find some very good technology writers who will blog regularly on Links.com as featured writers with different domain expertise. These writers would get visibility (Links.com gets about 500 uniques a day right now), as well as links to their own site. Anyway, it is any idea. Sort of like BlogCritics, but more focused.
In any case, I would like to create a high quality site, and hopefully I can pick up some pointers on this forum, as well as contribute what I can.
Thanks for the welcome.
Rich

Hi there,
Nice to hear from others here in Chicago. Yesterday, was the first time I met some Web guys here in Chicago at a Chicago Web Design Meetup group. I'm looking to get into more of these kind of groups. If you know of any that you frequent, let me know. It's nice to network in the area.
Cya,
Rich

Once again - it's got HUGE potential, and you'd be better off using it sooner rather than later.

Hi,
Yep. It is pretty embarrasing, but whether the domain is parked or being used as a blog (as I am doing now), the traffic stays about the same. 500 people from around the world type in www.links.com every day, and I have no idea why. I am getting about a 8% repeat visitor rate at this point, according to Google Analytics. If it wasn't so pathetic, I would cry. But I rather laugh.
Anyway, I am here hoping to pick up some hints - and encouragement - along the way. Thanks for the warm reception.
Rich
