  Old  Web design showcase problem

Hello,
I am in the process of redesigning my web design inspiration website; InspirationKing. It's not going too well, the front site is good and all, but I kind of forgot about archives, articles, comments, and all that stuff that makes a website good.

So, after some thinking, I have concluded that I have to go back to Photoshop for a while. So, what should be in "the new version"?

Version 1 was:
  • A big ugly ad
  • Gallery entries like http://designshack.co.uk/, I mean in the same "style". With a picture and then the name.
  • Some Interviews

Version 2 (almost) was:
Well, it's what is "live" at the moment, so go see for yourself. InspirationKing.com
  • Resources
  • Gallery entries down in the middle
  • Articles and reviews of websites.
  • Categories. mmmmh. They don't work, though

That was a lot of text for almost nothing, which brings me to the question:

How shall / should Version 3 be?

- Should it be like Stylegala: http://www.stylegala.com/
(3 columns)

- Should it be like CSSBeauty: http://cssbeauty.com/
(Kind of like version 2)

- Should it be like CSSThesis: http://thesis.veracon.net/
(Very simple)

- Should it be like: http://thesis.veracon.net/, http://www.cssempire.com/ and http://www.webcreme.com/
(Very simple, sites is in focus).

-A fifth alternative?

If this is in the wrong place, then I am sorry.
If it's a bad topic, or if it's all very strange, I am more sorry. Just write if there is something (at all) you just don't understand.

Thank you so incredibly much  (Nice smiley)

Ps. You can (very welcomed) also come with suggestions on what you think would be important. I mean stuff like RSS, forums etc.

Im liking the look of what you have uploaded at the minute. However, I think it looks and feels to cramped, and the 'Inspiration' text needs to be the same as the 'King' text, will look more professional.

The two CSS sites I usually visit the most is CSS these and CSS import, this is because I don't have to mess around with menus and it's quick, clean and easy to navigate. Try and get that feel and it will work.

Good luck!

Thank you techo, so you would go for the really simple model?
What about having articles or similiar on another page, then?
Not on the frontpage, only on the navigation.

i agree with techo, the design is way too cluttered. it was hard to see where something ended and something else started.

Yeah, go clean for sure, try not to use too many different colours. I definately think you should have interviews etc on another sub page. Make the main focus the sites being feautured.

Alex, follow your own ideas and not others. Create your own identity this way. It is good to be inspired, but don't copy.

I also do believe your site is too cluttered as well, it is difficult to digest the information there easily. Get back to basics and gor for minimalistic simplicity

Thank you Julian

Actually, simplycity was what I wanted right from the start, but I just kept adding more.
I will now stick more to your signature "slogan".

Thanks.

Make sure when redesigning you make liquid navigational structures that can expand or adapt to your site's growth

Well, I have already thought ahead on that one.
But thanks anyway!
