it's all good designing something that looks nice, but if it's not unique, then what's special about it? try and add some of your personal flare. you say you're a creativist. prove yourself right!
Looks okay. Though you should add some more creativity to it. It's blue and white only. I have that issue too, when creating a layout. When I have two colors I mainly just use them, which imo is my biggest self issue. I want to use others but having problems doing so.
I think the the biggest wow factor you have to have is the homepage. The portfolio is very important indeed, though homepage is the first sight. If it's ugly or just messy, people would mostly just close the window.
Put in some more flavor and creativity and it will work fine. It's not "wow" layout but neither is it a "urgh".

Thanks for the comments guys. I know exactly what you mean about the layout being ever so slightly bland, but i'm struggling for ideas. I guess it's the price I pay for spending so long without designing anything.
When i've found a way to 'spice' the design up, i'll post another preview.
