But...

The term AJAX in itself is very ambiguous. There are several definitions for it (as a group of technologies, as an architecture, etc.), and it's not as easy to distinguish as valid XHTML and CSS. It's not as good an idea as you might think.

I think its fairly self explanatory ... Asynchronous Javascript And XML. Javascript and XML intergrated and working together.

Sounds simple, but it doesn't seem fair that... for example, just because I'm using lightbox on my portfolio, I get to put an official "Powered by AJAX" banner on my site. See what I mean?

That's fine I guess. As being a bad idea, I was referring to an attempt to make an AJAX equivalent to the Valid XHTML or Valid CSS buttons.

AJAX doesn't exist. It's a buzzword. The only XML "AJAX" uses is in the HTTP-HEADER.

There isn't a set site for AJAX (XMLHTTPRequest, I hate people who say AJAX ) , since people either a) write it on their own, or b) use javascript frameworks to write it. If you wrote it on your own, make one up, if you didn't use the one from the framework site.
