Old  Looking for partners for a fun Non Profit Project :)

Hey,

I am currently looking for people to assist me in setting up a non profit project.

All of your efforts towards this project wont immediately be monetarily fruitful but in the long run I feel that it may be profitable via donations or whatnot.

I don't intend to sound like your typical Bad Client trying to scam people into becoming "partners", but sadly there is no other way of putting it.

I am not going to be describing - in detail - the nature of the project over here - you can contact me via PM or MSN<-- Also email.

You can join in if you consider yourself one of the following:

1) SEO Expert:-
You know how to get sites and pages to Google's front page. You will be completely in charge(and responsible) for all of the SEO related issues regarding the project.

2) Designer:-
You are an experienced designer with plenty of experience. Especially in designing content orientated websites. Minimalistic UI Design and Beautiful Typography are both going to be essential for this project.

3) PHP Dev :-
I have not decided yet on whether we will be using a cms or coding it from ground up. In either case we would be requiring YOU the php dev to code up some decent functionality. At least 1 year of experience is a must.

4) Manager :-
You have experience in dealing with lazy web designers and freelancers and you will be responsible to make sure that the team keeps working towards the goal.

I know arguing/trolling is a prevalent disease here at TFL -

Please don't.

Lastly, every member will have equal rights as a partner in the project and all decisions and disputes will be resolved with majority vote. Removal of any partner will require a vote from all other existing partners.

Another important point to make is that I have asked for 4 people to spread out the workload and not make it a hassle on any one of us. We can go for more than just four if need be. Again, all decisions will be made via Vote.

Today when someone asks for non-profit work or help I just hear "waste of time"... and I can't afford that at the moment. Although, I wish you all the best with finding people for your project.

Under which NPO will the project be ran, if at all? From the description (which isn't much) in the first post, it looks like you maybe have not dealt with anything like this before.

I would urge anyone, generous as volunteering is, to err on the side of caution. It does seem strange that you're looking for a few craftsmen (and a project manager; all of whom become equal partners) and nothing else related to such a project. To anyone interested, ask lots of hard questions and don't drop your guard just because this is work for a "non profit project".

I did not say it would be under a NPO.

I love the warm feeling of a "community" that you get here at talkfreelance. Such cheerful people.

Maybe if you actually gave a description, there would be a heavier interest.

Actually I have decided to do it myself, even though it would be slower.

Mods please close thread, thanks.

I apologize for any assumptions made, though the question did ask "if any". I figured that the project would need to be under the umbrella of an NPO by its very definition, and given your talk of partner stakes in the project.

Our questions and replies to this thread (at least this is true on my part) show that we have concerns for the community (by asking for more details of one kind or another) and that we're willing to investigate these kinds of things to help make those that might get involved more aware of what they're getting in to. I'd say that's a pretty warm and fuzzy feeling.

If you choose to take our replies in any other way, then so be it but it's your loss. I'm sure there are people more than willing to give some of their time into voluntary work for a good cause, or just to help out a "friend" here, if only you were as willing to give us answers to questions. Why so defensive?

You don't get something for nothing, even in volunteer work, and you've given us nothing so far. I wish you the best of luck with your project, and if you do wish to elaborate on what it is or still would consider having volunteers then, for what it's worth, I'd like to hear more.
