Yeh, a domain is as valuable as the product/service offered on it. For example, i could create a product or business using the .info domain and if this website was recieving 10,000 uniques per day and making xx,xxx/month then the domain would have immense value.
I look at .com/.net as being the two domains i go for first (simply because they are the ones people remember and associate with) I look at this from the view that the website makes the domain and not the other way round.
Who would have thought google.com would have been as valuable as it is back in 1996?
