Looking for a quote on a search bar

Looking for a quote for someone to implement a search bar (not google) onto a website in order to search for terms on the website itself.

Please provide a quote and what experience you have in the coding language needed to do the particular job (I do not want a free search bar).

Wow, needs some intense string knowledge for this. I could do this for $400, but would have to be a full CMS for the site for the search bar to work, as searching HTML documents is really sloppy, with all the fopen etc. msn: kingyorgor@hotmail.com

Not used Xi0s before but he does seem to know what he talks about. And yes he is right it would require a CMS as the amount of indexing required for adding new items.

Well, I could do it rather easily if all your content is in a database, however if it is static pages, then it would take much more work.

Doesn't pagehole use includes?

I'm also interested in someone who can do a small customisation of the script for me, (it should be very easy if your fluent with the script or just the languages it's written in). So PM me!

If all the content was stored in individual files for a database then a search feature would be fairly simple to create. Even if it's not in individual files and in html pages you could put a disclaimer like <!-- content here --> and tell php to search through that area.

A cron job which harvests the HTML files occasionally would be the ideal solution. Therefore this would eliminate the need for a CMS and naturally, cut the costs overall as well as user intervention. Then simply have a 3NF database to return the relevant results based on the keywords specified by the end user.

I appreciate all of your posts, and i did explain how it works. You can open your html files and search them, avoiding html chars etc etc, however, databased content is far more secure/easier to search. I quoted fairly based upon it NOT being databased content already, just html files, and i think i assume correct there.

As for customising any scripts your looking at $20-$100 depending on how much you want doing.
