Coda, TextMate and vim in approximately equal measure. They just get the job done without fuss.

Previously I was using mainly Notepad++, trying out Aptana at the moment though as I'm looking for more of an IDE than a general editor for my new personal PHP 5.3 framework I'm going to build over the next 3-4 months. Planning on doing a 5.2 clone simultaneously to use until 5.3 is used by the majority of casual hosts in a few years time.

I have been using Dreamweaver as a beginner even for my text editing needs, Later I started using TextMate on Mac and I cant leave it now. There is a Windows equivalent of TextMate which is called "e-texteditor" ( http://e-texteditor.com)

I have been using Dreamweaver, but am switching to NotePad ++ right now. Downloading it now.

I'm a big fan of Gedit. My favorite thing is the session saving.
But you may not want to install Ubuntu just for the text editor. (Though there a lot of other reasons to do so.)

Hi,
I use notepad++
And rarely dreamweaver mx ( the old one) when sometimes table designs are in need.
fckeditor is best when it comes to web editor.
Notepad++ is free, open source, stable and has load of features. It is unavoidable for a developer or a designer.

I have a few programs that I use, depending on if I have them available on particular computers:
Mac: Coda / Textmate
Windows: Dreamweaver CS3 (and we all know you should never crack software x])
Windows free alternative: Notepad++ (still a good color coding, and keeps your indents, but Dreamweaver does the whole "auto close" for </>'s)
Google is your friend on this though, it's mostly about personal taste, and if you actually do your own html, or just use the "Design View"s. If you DO type your source 100% like myself, then it wont matter what you use, some things just simplify repetitive tasks.
