  Old  XHTML vs HTML?

XHTML vs HTML? Which to use and why?

XHTML is suppose to be "future proof" and is more strict, therefore, yielding better code.

Is there any use useing HTML anymore?

(I know XHTML is "essentially" HTML...so don't get smart.)

XHTML is the next generation of HTML and is a hybrid between HTML and XML. XML was designed to describe data. HTML was designed to display data. XHTML is much stricter than HTML. Not all browers support XML so XHTML provides an intermediary soluton and can be interpreted by XML and HTML browsers. For further information see: http://www.w3c.org/MarkUp/.

It's much more appreciated in the world of coding. It's also usually more browser compliant.

I prefer HTML over XHTML as I bet 99% of the people who use XHTML don't even use it's extended capabilities. I'm just used to coding XHTML now because so many people request it.

If you aren't going to use the XML side of it, stick with regular HTML 4.01.

Also, you are wrong. IE6 and even IE7 I believe don't fully comply with XHTML standards (the XML side of it). If you have something to suggest otherwise, please let me know.

xhtml in todays age is like working extra hard to get a car that does 160mph, and use it in a race that has a max speed is 100.

I don't see too much of a difference besides the fact that xhtml has groupies. Yes, XHTML is XML parsed, so what? If you dont use the XML capabilities it makes no difference.
