To all that don't know, it was announced in the Keynote 2008 at MacWorld that the new iPod Touch software would cost $20. There is another version of this upgrade, but it really consists of minor bug fixes. Those who already had their ipod jailbroken probably had the benefits the new upgrade offers, but it also includes a much easier way to customize the order of the widgets, it added the non-phone applications the iphone had [no SMS and it did include the revamped Maps app], and it also added the ability to, in short link webpages with icons from the home screen to the web.
The update was much anticipated, but deeply disappointed when a price tag was announced. However, a few hours ago the "Purchase" button on iTunes for the upgrade was replaced by a "Remind Me Later" button. Maybe Apple realized the error of their ways and will refund those who bought it, just like the Early iPhone Owners Incident. I've already gotten a $20 gift card to an Apple Store just for calling and complaining.
