Old  (Not) Just another NYC freelancer

Greetings all! I'd be surprised if there weren't any other freelancers here from New York City; there seems to be a gazillion of us (we even have the Freelancer's Union). I'm Sakura (on the Internets, anyway), and I'm a web designer, print designer, and photographer.

I most recently worked semi-full-time (worked 40 hours or more, but as a "permalancer" with no benefits) at Playboy Magazine (that's always a conversation starter), before the recession hit the company, and my office closed. In the wake, I've decided to take the plunge into what I've always wanted to do: run my own business.

You can find me at http://remixdesign.ws/ and http://remixphoto.ws/.

Anyone else here freelance in NYC? What kind of work do you do? Do you run your own show, or take outsourced work? How long have you been freelancing? Were you laid off recently? Is business good, or do you wish you were working full time?
