.us can't have private registration anymore, so keep that in mind.

Thought I would ask in here intead of starting a new thread. Which would you pick over the other. Would you pick a .org domain name or a .info domain name; if both .com and .net are taken?

I would chose a .org name over a .info. I personally don't like the TLD .info, sounds cheesy IMO. And it seems like .org's go for more than .info's. Just my $.02

But say if you had the domain "www.usedcars.info" and someone searched for "Used Car Info" wouldn't you get better results than if you had .org?

.info is a better choice for many sites as .org is mainly used for non-profit organizations. The .info domain may sound cheap and cheesy, because it is, however the strength of an .info domain is stronger than .org in most cases.

Another question, does the TLD really have any effect on the quality of the domain name if you have a great keyword or keywords? I was also thinking .info would be better because .org is for non-profit organizations. I have also read that .info domains are gaining in popularity because of the availibility, thus increasing in value? Anyone else have any opinions on .info vs .org?

look at imageshack.us, 2 word name and a .us. it is the largest image hosting site on the web. a bad domain name certianly makes things harder, but its whats insede that counts. I mean look at talkfreelance.com, giant name, but its the best forum ive ever been on.

Another example is good-tutorials.com. Nobody likes the "-" in domains, but look how big they are

Although a good domain is a big part in make a web site, it is still possible to make a good web site from a unpopular tld or bad domain just takes a little extra work but if you advertise right have good content the site will be great.
