Depending on what your planning to do your best choice could be either. I know I spend 90% of my time on my desktop with the rest on my laptop. I just don't need the laptop unless im going on a trip or feeling lazy and relaxing in bed while I type something up. If you plan on entertaining clients outside your home of course you will need the laptop.

Laptop, it's everything to me - a giant MP3 player, dvd storer and a gming system. I can also take it to school and do work without being restricted by the damn Librarian because she monitors it all and logs me off all cos she hates me

I like my laptop because I can take it around the house, for instance right now I'm eating breakfast in the kitchen while I type. It's just easier for me. If I did more serious work, I would like a good solid desktop, but right now I don't have a great place for one.
