Does the theme have an index.php?

Yes, i believe it does.

Is there a way of switching a theme without using the admin panel?

Can you still get into the admin panel?

Go into the phpmyadmin and change the template back to whatever one you were using, thats probably the best way to get it back again.

It's not to do with the template at all, it's your host.

If it was a template error then you could just rename it via FTP and it will reset to your default.

my first guess, there is parsing error in the new template and your host suppress php error so that you only see blank page instead of error message. please check your error log in your admin panel.
