Anyone use Fireworks?

I always use Photoshop, and code everything myself, so I really haven't had the need to try Fireworks

I use it for image changes or to slice things like that...it is a much lighter application than cs2 is...

But when I open .psd's it edits the files, with there filters.

Fireworks is just a small little editor for editing small stuff for me. If I'm doing something just as text or so, something that isn't required for 100% high quality. I will open up fireworks so it doesn't slow down my laptop. I haven't found, nor do I think its created, that brushes and effects for fireworks, its just whatever comes with it.

Photoshop is 100% better for higher quality, more effects work. Downloading brushes, creating patterns, using patterns, downloading effects etc, all around its better I think.

it is a pretty cool program, but nowhere near photoshop. although i don't think it was meant to be a "photoshop" type of program. i think its a nice little program though.

It produces a smaller optimised file over Photoshop every time as it does not embedd meta data into the image like adobe does. It can slice layered PSD files, you can eve dsign a whole site in it ncluding navigation coding, rollovers and heaps of other nifty behaviours. You can anmate in it as well.

And flatten the layes with effects before you import.
