I wouldn't have imagined that "layers" are an fx. They are certainly an invaluable feature but an fx is not what I would associate layers with.

layers are more like a feature exactly, but not a FX, I don't think you can find a layer plugin around can u?

Check this website with awesome tutorials: PSDTuts.com and PhotoshopLady.com list tutorials from all around the web, don't forget DeviantArt.com some of it's users publish nice tutorials too.

Layers are not a FX.

Well, just using filter is what always suprises me. It has alot of cool features and all editable. The pen tool is another cool feature.
