Man people these days... hoping for tutorials that will teach them everything. Coding vB skins really isn't hard if you have decent knowledge of html abd css, the hardest part is getting to know which template does what and that you can learn by TRYING YOURSELF, get a copy of vB and try, how many times will I have to say it.

I don't know anyone who can make vB or IPB skins willing to write tutorials about how to do it. But honestly it's very easy, just give it a good shot and don't be scared to mess everything up, you can always revert templates and try again.

No, I was looking for designing. I just dont understad is how to go about designing one. Not to actually make one. I wasn't sure because of all the pages and stuff. Like the one doom provided, is that all you need or is there other pages and what not.

Well the way vB works, once you have your main index page and postbit done, the elements repeat on all the other pages when coded. Kinda hard to explain but that's all I need to make in Photoshop before sending to coder, he'll do the rest.

If you are wanting to know how to create a skin from the begining (design) to completion (coding/launching), one method is to look at a default skin. Get into the code and figure what elements are graphic and what elements are code based (i.e. a button could be a graphic where a line could be code). Using that information you should be able to see how it is designed/sliced to complete the skin.

Then crank up PhotoShop or your fav. design tool and go at it.

Good luck!

My advice to you is that, first do some of graph. elements, and then replace the default one with them, make some experiments..."He who dares, wins"

Yeah, I prefer that method to learning. Then along the way you can add your own elements and experiment. I've only designed skins for IPB(one for vBulletin 2) and its not that hard when you get used to it.

My approach to learning to make them was look at a forum skin say talk freelance's..go into photoshop and design the elements you see (menu, forumbits, footer, headers, etc..) from there you have to code it which isnt too bad just dive into the templates and start doing stuff and figure stuff out.

I am learning vBulletin coding and i have realised, people won't teach me how to do it, i got to do it on a "Trail and Error" basis.

Its the best way to learn
I know im off-topic but when I started learning coding in vbulletin, I thought installing mods onto the forums a good way to start learning. That way you get to know the code before starting one from scratch
