Nameservers
Hey, I just finished setting up my Windows Server 2003 Server, i'm trying to set it up as a name server so I can use my server as a host, and use my domains to point to the server.
Maybe even type in my domain in RDC and itll connect to it, no ips.
I know I need to setup a nameserver for the domains to point to, I think once I setup that, I can type in the domain instead of ips and itll work, I think. I've done it before.
If someone can help that would be great!

You'll need to go to your domain registrar to create custom nameservers using the IP addresses from your server. You'll also have to use a 3rd party to create some records for the nameservers. I use http://editdns.net to manage it (and setup hostnames, etc.)

Hmm, well let me explain more.
The server is a local server, can't access from the internet.
192.168.1.140, wont change
In an attempt to get a static ip, i installed hamachi, but nothing.
I already have another server thats taking our ip, thats all setup, but not my server.
But I want to use this server for my hosting. I.e. Nameservers and use my .com domains.
Is there another way I can get another ip, like with no-ip but i heard they suck. Or how I can get this to work, anyway I can.

Well the first question: Does your ISP allow you to host a server on your connection?

Hmm, I got the DNS to work and point to my hosting, but not on my server. On the other one.
I just need another ip, ugh!
Any ideas on how I can steal it from my hosting package?
hamachi?!?

Steal? Do you want to steal it?

if i can get a favor from somebody that would be great!
I think I pretty much have my server all setup. RDC and HTTP. No FTP...yet.
I setup my domain to point to my server.
if someone can do these 3 things for me and report back what happens that would be great!
First: go to http://www.revonal.com
Second: go to http://www.revonal.com/phpMyAdmin/
Third: Remote Desktop connection to www.revonal.com:36
Please do the three and tell me the results!
Working on FTP next.
While there are 2 servers in the house, they are both accessible through one ip!
