Guess The Film thread

Name the film and director from a given still. If your guess is right, then you're up to post a new still. Since we're only looking for film and director, no need for the stills to feature main characters, they can be anything (ie a cup on a table that you may think it's a recognizable shot from the movie). Hints (visual and/or written) will be given when asked/needed.

theatrically released films ONLY. NO TV movies, no made-for-cable fare. The ONLY exceptions will be for films that can be proven to be released theatrically somewhere (like RKO 281 or Spielberg's Duel, which were both released theatrically overseas).

Also, since we're concerned with visuals, voicework, especially vis-a-vis animation, is disqualified.

If you can't find a reasonable quality still to post, then post something else or pass and give someone else your turn. If you're posting a B&W pic but the film is a color one, state it in your post. If it's not american, state its nationality too.

If you guess a still right and don't post anything, someone else may take your turn.

You gotta confirm if someone's guess is right ASAP. If people consider that you're taking too much time to confirm they're free to post a new film.

NO ANIMATED FEATURES EITHER, DOCUMENTARIES AREN'T ALLOWED.
