Interesting thought. Just wondering if that kind of system would stagnate the growth of the marketplace. Certainly will have some level of validation, however, that will not prevent from low quality products being posted for sale.

Yeah thats what I was wondering as well. We don't want to make people find it too much of a bother to post things to sell =\

I don't think products should be moderated for being low quality. What is "garbage" (low quality) to one, is precious to another. Why would you want to censor your marketplace like that? Yes it would look nice to the public with how everything is "sellable" but.. that's not an impression I'd want to support when it's entirely biased.

I also would like to see it as a separate entity with more verification than just being allowed to sign up.. Although not make it a requirement but a "reward" just as how Flippa does it. I love how it increases your "trust" to help encourage people to feel comfortable buying from you. Much the same how I've [mostly] relied on using the iTrader.

I think the iTrader plugin needs expanding a little, for only people to be able to give some 'trust' as Flippa does only for true sales, it's quite easy to make fake iTrader reputation therefor not being real trust.

Trust and an open marketplace for people to post stuff to sell, but having say a week being registered and 20+ posts, so users selling are people we know and have had some interaction with etc..

Post limits are bad ideas, pretty much any site that enforces it is an example (as we were). All post requirements do is make sure people post crap everywhere trying to get to that requirement. Removing it was (in my opinion) one of the best rule changes that TF made.

How about a few market place moderators that can review the submissions before they are listed? Make it so that every submission needs two rejections or to approvals before it appears?

Thats all well and good but designs are very subjective. I see designs sell that i think are horrible and vise versa. Not that i am suggesting it but thats why a listing fee very quickly gets rid of a lot of the "rubbish".

As much as I like the idea of verification, I am just not that convince that censoring certain products or services based on an opinion of someone (or a group of someone) would make for an effective and active marketplace.

I like the idea of a listing fee, with established, good reputable members not having to pay for listings. Sort of when new members have to earn the reputation first and if it is above a certain mark, their business activity is free. If it drops below a certain mark, a fee is required again. Just brainstorming out loud.

Well as long as I don't have to pay
I know that a listing fee gets rid of the lower quality, but I don't think there will be many people willing to pay to get something listed on TFL in the current state.

Obviously not in the current state, Hero, no worries, this was just an idea, but from the looks of it, even 1-dollar fee would make a huge difference on the quality of listings.
