The best book is definitly this one imo http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...55009?v=glance
I have the 2nd edition and even I managed to create some basic scripts and stuff no problem I'm not a programmer at all, it's a very easy to use book, well detailed with real life projects to build.

I have been writing a basic intro to programming through PHP @ www.designerslobby.com... It's a really basic intro to all the core programming concepts in a PHP environment.
I have learned almost all my PHP online, and I think that is really best. Search around and you'll find a huge amount of information!

I'll have to check that book out. I've been just following tutorials, so maybe I should get a book.

I have been looking at a few books at the local bookstore around here, and there are about 50 different ones on PHP programing, so Im a little confused about what to buy. So I think I will check out the one Robson suggested.
Online tutorials are badly written, and dont explain how the snippets of code work.

I recommend SitePoint's PHP books. Get PHP Anthology 1 and 2, and get "Building a Databse Driven Website Using PHP and MySQL". I bought all three and it taught me a lot.

I bought one of the Sitepoint CSS books and I can say that was a very useful resource and a good read, so I'd be prepared to say the PHP book would be fairly good as well
