Old  How to do SEO with a MySQL/PHP Backend

Hi there all,

I'm about to develop a site with a DB backend & I want to know how one goes about doing organic SEO if most of the site is DB driven.

There will be some text on the page, but certain things that are pulled from the DB, won't actually be in html/xhtml on the site.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks & have a great wknd.

AFAIK there is no way you can have it be read if it isn't in the html. (for example if it was a remote javascript or sth)

Why can't you have it in the html?

Or... are you trying to say that the db content is not hard coded html.. Just that it's dynamic.
If so, just do seo the same way.. (title tags, meta tags, headline tags,....) but, try and use apache's mod_rewrite to create SE friendly urls (like talkfreelance uses).

Hi Brett,

So you are saying that all I have to do is change the URLs? There's got to be more to it than that LOL

Thanks

Google can index pages that use one to two operators in their url... for example index.php?filename=main will work fine. As you add to this though each time it becomes less reliable. Also the content on that page needs to be at least sort of static.

www.seochat.com

There are alot of techniques of mastering SEO listed over there.
Also, you can use mod rewrite to make URLs like "/main/newsitem/1000002/" accessible to for example "index.php?do=main&read=news&item=1000002" I suggest you read up on it; http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_rewrite.html

Good luck!
