Graphic Programs

can anyone tell me a good free graphic program that i can use to create good web graphics with. being young it's hard to pull out 500 pound and buy photoshop

I used gimp, which is free, before I got into design school. It's okay for most things. But it might take you some time to get the hang of it.

you know, if you're still in school you don't have to pay full price for the software. there is such a thing as student discounted software.

I was going to say what chaka said. I got the entire Macromedia MX 2004 Studio for $200 (Fireworks, Flash, Dreamweaver, Freehand, and Coldfusion). I bought it at my college bookstore (I had to show them my college ID). The Studio typically runs $1000 for 'normal' people.
