  Old  Advice Needed

Hi all I have a question regarding a client... she wants to see what I can do so I need to create a logo and website comp for her. Looks like she won't pay me until she likes what she sees. I have an online portfolio that shows my work and what I can do. Should I request some sort of payment for the comps or do the comps for free? And see if she'll hire me afterward should I take that risk.

Any advice would be great.

Don't do any comps for her at all. If she's not satisfied by what you have to offer in your portfolio, then tell her you're sorry you won't work out for her.

She's just going to take your comp/idea and find someone to do it for cheap or try to use your idea on her own.

The point of a portfolio is to show off your work and what you're capable of doing, not making comps for everyone that asks.

I second that. If she's able to see your previous work, that should be enough to show whether you are up to the task with her project. I would not do any comps, whatsoever, until you are hired, signed, and have a deposit in hand.

she may not like it, and you can feature it on your portfolio or advertise it on here to sell. But for sure, don't design her anything unless she pays you (even pays you some) upfront.
