  Old  Portfolio Design [WIP]

Hey all,

just started working on my new layout, its for my portfolio site. In the other versions of my site i have always gone for something dark and 'techy' so this time im trying to get something a bit more light and professional maybe get a few extra sales from it

Its still in the early days but let me know what you think about it cause im not sure if im making too plain, also if anyone has any ideas on what i should put in the bottom left f that Ad Box let me know cause i dont wanna use a face like everyone else does

Thanks for any help

I like the layout of the website. The colours used are not the most appealing and eye catching it has to be said but they do work well together. I am not a fan of the reflection effect used in the top left corner....it is really over done these days.

The navigation looks good...i would think a left aligned navigation might appear better. Your gonna need to do something with the header as it is very plain at the moment, the logo seems really squashed up in the corner.

Have a dig around the web for some decent fonts, the text used for your captions and titles is very bog standard and with a decent font it could stand out alot more. Overall i think the design needs something more....another colour added would bring the site alive more, you need to freshen it up and add more detail to parts. Afterall, this website is going to be what clients visit and it has to give them to right impression.

I am looking forward for the revised design.

Eh what Robson said + I think it looks tutorial-ish if you know what I mean. The border around your content sub headers should be a light-dark grey instead of black. That would look a lot better.

ok i have started a new layout, i wanna stick to colour scheme if i can so here's what i ahve upto now, still has lot to go tho' - the big red box is gunna be my header and hopefully will have a nice bit of flash in there so you'll have to use your imagination for what that will look like

so once it finished and cleaned up a bit is this the type of site you would buy a web design from? also can someone point me to some portfolio sites they consider to be the ebst around. . . .

anyway let me know what you think i should improve on this design or if i should just start again. . . again lol

Thanks all

[EDIT]

grrr i forgot to pay my hosting bill lol, i uploaded it to Da incase anyone wants to take a look http://www.deviantart.com/view/13167478/

The second one is definitely an improvement ove rthe first.

I can't wait to see the finished product.
