1/2 Done Site

I am 1/2 done with my new freelance site www.smarterlance.com I would like to know what you all think of the basic layout on the front page... I am going to charge programmers 3% and $3 per project and you get $10 free on start

top nav bar reminds me of windows media player too much

i would suggest making the font bigger and putting a bit more padding on the tables.

also get a rolover on the links to change color, maybe to a dark blue of some kind to similar color on your header maybe

I've seen so many of these sites popup from time to time and this looks like the same sort of thing (in terms of design and appeal) try going with a different approach, you're entering a competitive enviroment and you need to stand out.

The logo is pretty bad (in terms of the design) the idea is good, sure, but the colours, dropshadow on the text make it look really unprofessional, which isn't something you want on a freelance website!

Not sure what the purpose of the generic stock photo is, maybe you can explain that? Try using some css to give the actual backend abit more buzz, it's looking like another rentacoder.com to me, what makes me want to use your site over theirs?

The bright green footer at the bottom hurts my eyes, I can't read the white text on that either. The navigation is alright, not sure about the yellow rollover though, green would be better (infact a rollover isn't needed).
