  Old  PHP/MYSQL website modification

I'm planning on hiring a freelancer to modify my website. The freelancer will have access to all my code since he has to understand and modify the website. Is there a way to protect my code from being copied to his local machine from the server? Any sugesstions

Nope, he will have to have the code on his machine in most cases to modify it. So the best way is just to use a contract or something.

Hello,

The best way to protect yourself is to write a simple straight forward contract. Their are many out their, their are even one or two contracts I have seen in MSWORD that could be modified. You might want to do a google search for Non disclosure agreement

you can also writeup a basic agreement stating that non of the contents of the your code can be disclosed/share/distributed to anyother party. I am not a lawyer but have used a NDA with some basic additions stating something similar when I use freelancers. Of course it also depends if your programmer is 18yrs of age or older (based on USA Law) if not then no sense in trying to have them sign a contract because it won't hold up.

I hope this helps (do a search on this forum I believe their is some downloadable contracts also here on this site to use and modify)

Hope this helps :-)
