Old  The Future of Business: Collaboration and Virtualization

Business is changing.

I am convinced that the way business is conducted is rapidly approaching a virtual model that focuses on collaboration. More specifically, in the not-too-distant future, most individuals will no longer report to a single facility to work for a single employer. Instead, individuals will work simultaneously with multiple employers from a virtual location. This model is widely used in the creative arts industry, though it is far from efficient. My company aims to become masters of this virtual, collaborative model and I'm looking for a bit of guidance.

As a freelancer:

1. What would discourage you from working with a project team consisting entirely of freelancers?

2. What uncompensated legwork are you willing to do to help another freelancer secure a project contract, assuming you will be brought on board to help fulfill the project?

3. If you could have assistance from other freelancers in 1 area of the sales cycle (Prospecting, Qualification, Proposal, Execution, Management), which area would help you become more profitable and why?

Thank you in advance!
