Why not go with one of the freebies?

I've heard that VBulletin is the best to go with, but i'm guessing its up to personal preference, as a member of forums i don't mind which one is used, a forum is a forum, but people tend to think VBulletin is more professional, and more people like VBulletin.

I think since VB is so expensive they have the money to spend on making it as secure and stable as it can be. So, IMHO, I would recommend VB.

I think phpBB has to many security issues, i mean the majority of forums that get hacked are usually phpBB, i have no proof of this though, its just from what ive heard.

All of the free ones have a lot of security issues. I host a phpBB2 demo forum on my site and it's been super ninja'd into once or twice. Luckily I'm not an idiot, and I keep my demos all on separate databases with different users/passwords. Otherwise they could have ate my whole site =/

I used phpBB soo damn much back when it was like 2.0.3 didnt even have image verifycation. You had to install ****loads of mods just to make it equal to IPB 1.3. Even today its not even up to ipb 1.3, every single version has major exploits in it.Now we've been waiting 1.5 years for phpBB 3, it should come out soon though now. Its still going to be way behind all the others. SMF is cool, but lets be honest it is a ugly forum. Styling is horrable. Ive tryed a few of the underground ones but but i never liked any of them.

Anyway, im still saving up i got about 40$ so far. Im starting to think IPB.
IPB
You dont have to close your board after a year with leased licence.
Better/easy styling then VB imo
15$ cheaper

VB
bit more secure
better support
Easyer to install modifications

Still hard to choose .

Well, I use VB on my site. We switched from ipb. I am not sure how it compares, I mean I really like it.

Yes, it's a though choice but you can't really choose wrong.

I run vB myself and I'm happy with it. However, I love the multiple quotes in IPB which vB does not support (unless you manualy enter them that is). An other feature IPB has that I liked was that you can see in which forum a member is most active.

User wise, I might actually lean towards IPB.

Admin wise, I can't honestly say because I've not used IPB's Admin CP. However, as a developer, I am very impressed with vB!

Cheers!
