After the first time my sessionid was stored in a cookie... Might want to come up with something else.

To Jako, I'm sorry. It was a small lapse of judgement and I shouldn't have done it; however, I sent you $10 for the trouble and offered to fix the script myself. Was that not enough?

It's not Nick's fault that the script was designed and secured improperly. However everyone just needs to remember when dealing with such users in the future, that there is a risk for immaturity and malice behavior.

As for the refund, you deserve it unless he fixes it. However--alot of times, just because a new hack or exploit is found in a peice of purchased software, do you have the right to get a refund. I doubt microsoft would be in business if that was the case

Honestly, I don’t think you deserve a refund.

If you bought a website running vbulletin and the next day someone hacked the website, you couldn’t go back to the previous owner and ask for a refund. It has got nothing to do with them, if someone else hacked the website it is no longer their problem.

I know this situation is slightly different because the script is custom coded but the same logic still applies. If someone has found a bug in the script which you paid for it is no longer the coder’s problem because it is no longer their website. Without a contract nothing can be done about it anyway.

So when they make a verbal agreement saying that they will update the coding if something happens it should still apply.

I didn’t realise this was the case.

It is definitely un-ethical… but without a contract there still isn’t anything you can do about it.
