Old  My quest for a web designer continues!

Hello everyone and good morning

A couple of weeks ago I gave myself a challenge to track down a new web designer for a couple of upcoming projects. The short list were....

www.vbulletinskinz.com
www.webrhinostudios.com
www.4design.tv
www.webinc.com (adult web design, warning!)

So far, all but webinc have responded (with shelton from vbulletinskinz e-mailing me with a quote after nearly 14 days since my original e-mail!) That didn't go in his favour.....not to mention the numerous stories i've heard about him being late with other web projects. Anyway, I just finished speaking with him and to be perfectly blunt, he didn't seem that "professional" or didn't wish to answer a simple question regarding how he came up with the price of my project.....

The first company to respond was webrhinostudios, whilst they look the part and were very prompt with their reply I have heard some stories from a few disgruntled customers that's made me think twice, coupled with a slightly more expensive budget (pushing the $2k mark for a 2 page psd! But still a few hundred lower than vbulletinskinz!).

So that was two designers firmly marked off my list....

However, a light at the end of the tunnel perhaps? www.4design.tv have quoted me a very competitive price for web design They have communicated very professionaly and promptly and have answered all my questions......they have even provided me with a very professional contract outlining the delivery times/terms and conditions etc.

So, my decision has been made and the first venture on the web since selling Talkfreelance will be designed by www.4design.tv, you can check out updates regarding this and other projects on my new blog www.robertryall.com which will be coming this weekend (fingers crossed!).

Well done Rob, good to see you finally got a professional. Pity it wasn't someone from here though

I can't believe the lack of professionalism you have found. If I was asked to quote I would have a quote ready within 1-2 days (depending on the size of the job) I value my clients highly and want their business. Maybe you've been dealing with people who are already swamped with work and don't like money?

Well, Sheldon is very busy I know that, but the fact remains that his business skills leave something to be desired and it will come back to haunt him soon enough, i'm a big client to some people.....if 4design.tv can impress me then i'll be going there for ALL my design work, and I have about 10 projects in the pipeline.

True, even if I am busy, I always go out of my way to make communication with prospects and clients a priority.

vbulletinskinz.com's work doesn't impress me half as much as the others anyway to be honest. There are some really great pieces in the portfolio but then the rest of it just doesn't match it. (not to be rude to him I still think he's a very good designer)

Anyway, I'm glad to see you go with 4design - Their work is amazing, always admired it and Nat is extremely friendly and helpful (so im sure they would be a plessure to work with)

Good luck with your projects Robson! - Look forward to seeing them

I agree, I personally don't like the work of vbulletinskinz.com much at all. www.4design.tv are great, and without a doubt my personal favorite.

Best of luck with it robson, I'm looking forward to the blog.

On the other hand, http://www.webinc.com/custom-design.html, is stunning.

Sheldon of vBulletinSkinz.com does fantastic work. I wouldn't hire him for anything but a forum design, though. While his communication skills may be lacking, which I personally haven't seen or heard of, his work makes up for it.

I'm not a big fan of webrhino's work but 4design.tv does excellent work.
