Old  If google became a web host?

I was wondering, if google decided to become a web host would this have a severe impact on other hosting businesses? I mean, they have urchin now, they control the largest search engine on the internet and obviously have a huge impact on the market because of this.

I think it would probably have a larger impact for the bigger hosts, those such as 1and1 and more monopolised providers. I think google (what with its huge public presence) would probably be swamed with customers and ultimatly end up providing a second rate service in terms of support and reliability.

What do you think?

I completely agree. I for 1 would be first in line to sign up for google web hosting.

I can’t see it happening just yet though.

It would definatly attract alot of potential customers, would be a massive downfall for large hosting companies that are allready established, I would still stick to my hosting as im 100% happy with them

If they give Gmail out for free with 1GB space... imagine their hosting packages!
