Go Blender.
Well I'm not heavily programming-oriented so it's a bit confusing for me, but definitely consider it if you have a low budget.

I've been using 3dsmax for about 8 years. I've tried the others but always go back to it. I think you can pick up educational versions pretty cheap.

Just download it. As long as you don't use the software for commercial purposes it's free. No-one is going to find out.

I've been using 3dsMax for about 8-9 years.. Decided to figure out the interface of blender, and got a real big surprise... As long as you decide that you won't give up after 10 minutes of fiddling.. you might end up like me, and actually like the interface much better then 3dsmax... Both programs have their ups and downs, but overall, i really do like blender's interface and feature-set.. i've been using blender for about a year now.. got hooked after a couple of days with tutorials...

try using this 3DMLW editor called QuantumHog. it is an open source community product and uses SourceForge for operating with the project. its free to use and download. you can create web-based animation using it. the best part is 3DMLW has blender file support (example http://www.hot.ee/blender3/) also.

I don't think you can show 3d models on the web vivaan.
Unless using flash?
