How big do you make your web designs in pixels?

I am with Ryan.

Althought, my canvas size is always 1200x1000, initially, if you care.

If you are into grids, I came up with these options for a 980px wide layout...

3 Column - 1 Large, 2 Small
20px | 600px | 20px | 150px | 20px | 150px | 20px

2 Column - 1 Large, 1 Medium
20px | 610px | 20px | 310px | 20px

3 Column - 3 Medium
20px | 300px | 20px| 300px | 20px| 300px | 20px

800 x 600

I always start with 1000 x 1000; though height differs depending on content.

For me depends on the demographics of the website.

I always go 1000 x whatever.
Usually a little larger just because you can always make it smaller, but it's hard to make something bigger once you've started.

760 wide

I reckon 1000 x 800 is the best

sadly the standard still seems to be sitting around 800x600 but is creeping up to 1024x768. so i sit in the middle usually around 990x660. depending on content and audience of course.

I like 1200X900 but I like to leave room on the sides then just slice what I need to.
