i was just wondering because im new and wanted to know the average size.

i usually make it like 1000x800. but people always switch around i think... ill keep an eye on this thread.

It differs. Look at blogs for example. Some blogs have 3 columns which means you'll probably have to make the width a little bigger than compared to it being a 2 column design, which could be reduced in size. It all depends.

I usually do 760 or 960 pixels wide.

960 wide x height. I do this now for grid reasons. Cameron Moll, Mark Boulton articals have got me in to grid design.
