PHP & MYSQL on localhost

Yes, it says both services are running (apache and mysql)

I personally think that xampp is the best out there, it configures it and everything, comes with phpmyadmin and a few other goodies...

Have you made sure you have added it inside of the 'www' directory. Sometimes i've just copied it in the wrong folder.

Restart Apache or your machine and see if there is any change.

well i actually recommend easyphp ive been using it for about a year and its been working for me greatly.

I tried EasyPHP and it worked, this is great!

Hey just to let you know, you dont need to have your variable outside of a echo, if you want to display the $ you need to go \$, or else PHP will read it as a variable not a doller sign...

I use PHP Triad. Installation is a breeze. After installing make sure you reboot your computer.
Next: Click Start -> Programs -> PHP Triad -> Apache Console -> Start Apache. (Minimize this screen, don't close it)

Now you can run PHP and MYSQL. Just install your site(s) under apache/htdocs/ and point your browser to http://localhost/

I used to have Apache installed straight on my machine, but took it off. If I used any of these, would it be considered 'running a server'? That is against my ISP's TOS and I want to make sure I wouldn't be breaking it before I install something on my computer such as the given links.

No, this is different than running IIS or a web server. You are simply installing an environment to run php and mysql. No problems will stem from thier use with your ISP.
