Whats the point?

Once it has been delivered, why would I want to track it?

Yep I have had similar problems with other couriers. Maybe it means after the package has been dispatched? Royal mail will only be able to track it once they have received it I assume.

To show that the item was delivered, it's proof of receiving the item at the house it was posted to, especially protects sellers on EBay for one, and many other things just to keep record the item has been delivered to the right address and was signed for by someone.

My guess.. . .

indeed, but thats what the recorded delivery is for...tracking is supposed to let me know where it is enroute.

It's so that the sender has proof an item has been delivered.

That message would mean they haven't 'received' the package into the system yet according to that tracking number. Happens with almost every courier, if they haven't scanned it, it won't show.

I know how tracking systems work, thing is, this is always the same whenever I have something coming from the Royal Mail, it doesn't show anything till the product is at my door, which is useless.
