Old  A Wordpress blog for a friend

An acquaintance of mine who knows nothing about web development things ask me to build her a blog, and she is OK with a ready-made platform, i.e. Wordpress. Do you think it's "fair" to charge her some fee for the service, or should I do it for free as a favor?

I just read your other thread about hosting. What you can do is, assuming your friend doesn't have a host already (and why would she?), do the research and refer her to a great host where you'll be given a % for the referral.

Now, don't you dare stoop and refer her to host based on commission (some pay 150%). Make sure it's a decent host even if all you get is 50 cents per month. (Actually that's a sign they are probably decent)

Would your friend (or is she just an acquaintance?) be happy enough to use something like wordpress.com or some other remotely hosted service: no installation, super-simple to use, someone else maintains everything, etc..

Not really. Actually she is running a small business and want to use the blog to promote her business, so she wants her blog looking professional, hosted on her own domain.

@ Cableguy: Thanks so much, that's a good idea to consider. Actually I would do anything for her: setting up the blog, picking the theme, and uploading the blog to the server. Well, that's not a difficult task still takes some time.
