Dual Monitors help in productivity so much, I've got my laptop hooked up to a 19" widescreen. I wanted to have 2 monitors hooked up but unfortunately the macbook pro only supports one more

I have a 19" non-widescreen. Upgrading to a 22" made me...confused. Too much screen space becomes a bad thing -- it just depends on how much you can handle.
I personally prefer two monitors side-by-side. That way I can move chat windows and so on into one monitor, and have my main monitor with a managable screen size in the center. That way I can glance at the extra stuff but still focus, and there's not too much screen space at one time.

Same here Choco. It make thing confuse with bigger screen. I used TRI 19" monitor with adjustable arm mounted on the wall. I like to able to move the monitor around while working at home, sort of changing the environment.

The bigger, the better.

Altrough webdesigners have to constanlty keep in mind that not everybody has such a resolution. Sounds silly, but I've really seen we designs that look nice on a 22', but not in anyting smaller

I have 2 22" Widescreen's setup and doing web design is much easier. Allows to to multitask in photoshop or look at the HTML & CSS file at the same time...or preview the template on the other monitor. tl;dr its great. (:

I only have a 17" widescreen on my laptop, but on my desktop I have a 22" WS which I use for designing and writing. I love it. It is definitely advantageous to have a large monitor. If you are thinking of going bigger, do it!

From my experience, anything less than 20'' always seem so small. I would always have 10 application open and it would end up looking like a puzzle. It's a pain. So I think it would be worth buying a monitor at least 20''.

Mostly depends also on what the designer is more comfortable with of course you get more quality but then again alot of people get headaches from looking at such a huge monitor

definitely better, if you are into print-designs especially! will give you the extra 'work-space' that you'd want!
