Old  "What Does Google Have In Its Wallet?"

Is Google getting into the online payment business? That was the rumor in late June, when rumors abounded about a planned new service that would potentially pit the search engine giant head-to-head with PayPal. While Google's CEO denied that the service would be competing in the same field, it's worth analyzing where Google might be going, and what challenges it faces.
I know people have talked about this a lot, well here's an article on SeoChat.Com for you all to read, it is quite interesting

I think google is up to the challange... Besides that, Google does have quite a bit of loyal followers in my opinion.

If the Internet was a monopoly board, Google would own the final 2 sides before passing go

Well, I don't think it's a direct competitor for paypal (it will probably be a different service altogether) even if it does turn into a google vs paypal war, i'll be sticking with paypal personally Just like I stuck with hotmail over gmail.

Google will crumble....sooner or later.

GMail is alot better then Hotmail dude. I aren't sure what i would do in the midst of a war between them two, i would just go with what ever the person who i was paying wanted me to go with.

Google wont, or rather shouldn't, go into direct competition with PayPal because they will never come out on top simply because of eBay. . . .

That is of course unless they launch their own "ebay"? It's something I could see them doing....I mean, they control the biggest search engine online, they have alot of control and alot of marketshare.

Yeah thats true, whenever you search for things in google ebay adds will always appear all over the place, if those were replaced with google's own version of eBay it could take off quite quickly. Would take ALOT to compete with eBay though

Yeah but everyone would still use ebay becuase thats their baby. I don't think google would be dumb and launch their own ebay anyway, it won't make everybody want to go their, unless they give away free money. Things as big as ebay don't just crumble becuase some other big company makes something similar.
