7 Ways to Get One-Way Inbound Links

1) Quality content websites

Creating websites with lots of useful information and informative content will naturally attract other webmasters to want to link from your site. There are many ways to create content rich websites, free articles, downloads and tools all add value and keep visitors returning.

2) Testimonials

A good way to get a link from another website is to leave feedback or a testimonial on their product/services, because you’re doing them a favour by praising their business you’re often allowed to leave a link to your website. You should try to leave a testimonial for every product/service you use, even if the website doesn’t have a designated section for testimonials it doesn’t hurt to drop the owner an e-mail with your thoughts, he might publish it.

3) Directories

Probably the best/easiest way to get a link from another website. There are hundreds of directories online that allow you to submit your site at no cost, although some may require a small fee for submission. The directory you should make sure your website is included in is the dmoz (http://www.dmoz.org). It’s the largest human edited directory online and is used in countless amounts of search engines for their results. Directories are a great way to get one way inbound links, a good resource for finding information on directories is http://www.directory-pages.com.

4) Articles

Articles are a great way to get one way inbound links to your website. Webmasters are constantly seeking fresh and exciting content for their sites, newsletters and ezines. Writing articles and offering these for use for free on other websites in exchange for credit and a link back to your site will slowly increase the amount of traffic you receive and the exposure your site has.

5) Reciprocal link

One of the most common methods to achieve an inbound link is an exchange with a website of similar content/theme. Simply contact the webmaster and offer a link exchange with their site.

6) Forum Signatures

While there is a lot of discussion regarding the effectiveness of links within forums I personally find it to be a valuable tool for website promotion. Make sure you don’t overdo it, keep your signature brief and never spam forums.

7) Free product

Offer your visitors a free product such as a template or script. Within each of the products ensure there is a link back to your website (like a copyright or credit) make sure this link remains intact, if the free product is of high quality then you should notice a large increase in the amount of inbound links.

Incorrect methods to gain inbound links

Submitting your site to pages that consist solely of links. Link farms serve no real purpose and often cause you more harm than good, particularly with the search engines that often frown upon these methods. Submitting your site to link farms can also lead to your website being banned from google.

Another way to gain links is to buy them, websites sell links from pages with high PR values, and although these can be effective they can sometimes be identified and blacklisted by google

If anyone has any other suggestions to add then feel free

What do you about free articles. Is it like you copy and paste and put it in your site and then link back to the source?

Simple create articles that others can use on their own sites (for free) but they must include a link back to the source (your site)
