I Need a new PC..
I want to be able to design and play computer games, such as Counter Strike, Age of Empires, Battlefield, and other games around that genre..
Must Have:- Good Graphics Card
- Nice amount of Ram
- Nice amount of Disk
- I would prefer a well known brand of PC's.
- Monitor size is not an issue, but I would like at least a 17'.
Suggestions please? My budget on this one is about $1200, or would you recommend a custom built PC? If so with what specs and estimated price.
Thanks.

Agreed, Now days if you want a computer that will fit your needs in everyway then custom is the way to go and you can build a really good custom pc for less than 1200.

Correct, here my setup which should be round your budget:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P
Corsair Twin 2X 1024mb 6400 Pro
Gefore 8800GTS 320MB
Seagate Barracude 7200.10 320G
Samsung 931C
SeaSonic 650W
That should be a nice setup and that set up can easily be overclocked to 2.4ghz + if you like

I'm also building a PC. Here's the specs I'm looking at so far.
The above costs around $720 Canadian.
You'll still need a case, power supply, video card and screen. You might have to adjust the parts according to your budget once you add those missing components since a video card and screen can be expensive, but this will give you a starting point.
Personally I'm going to add a video card later on (and use onboard video for a bit) and will keep my current 19" screen, so my upgrade will cost around $800-900 once I'm done adding a case and power supply.
For cases, if you want something nice with good airflow have a look at the Antec Nine Hundred Advanced Gaming Case or the Antec P180. If you don't care about the aesthetics of your case, get a cheap one and use the extra cash for one of your other components.
One final note, if you can, wait until July 22nd when Intel will release new Quad-Cores which should drop CPU prices.

GeForce 8800 SHOULD be at minimum 640 MB. To get the most for your buck. A 700 Watt power supply should be good, 800 if your SLIing. As for processor, I am an AMD lover, if your looking at C2D look at the Conroes. RAM currently I would recommend a minimum of 2 GB since vista hogs a bit. Motherboard....as long as it holds the RAM, appropriate amount of sockets, it should be good.
Try newegg.com to buy the parts.
