  Old  Minimalistic design style

I have been fascinated with simplistic (or shall I say minimalistic) design styles recently. Seems like the style is often picked up by fashion resources/blogs, it is definitely becoming (or have always been) quite trendy.

Do you know any designers who can or have design like these resources?

http://www.wallpaper.com
http://www.lookbook.nu
http://www.itsnicethat.com
http://designspotter.com
http://jakandjil.com/blog/
http://yayeveryday.com/
http://mocoloco.com

Does it really take a special kind of person to design this way? In other words, should someone look for a professional who designs this particular way because its just his style of design (like any artist who has his/her own take/technique), or is any designer capable of producing work like that?

Also please post minimalistic designs that you like/love, if any.

For the most part, I think it is all in the understanding of what their main goal or intention is during the project. Essentially, if it is their style, then you may see it appear in every one of their designs because they stick with what they are comfortable with.

On the other hand, I believe that every designer is capable, but some have the natural ability to make use of whitespace more effectively.

By the way, "itsnicethat" is listed twice.

Thank you for your take on this, Rick. I find this type of design stimulating. I love websites that use white space in a very efficient way.

PS: Thanks for the note about itsnicethat. I got carried away and lost attention for a second. I removed the URL from the list.

Not a problem. I love building simple, yet visually attractive layouts. Simplicity always dominates.

As long as it tells you something, simplicity could be the best. Visitors will be focusing on one object..

I have adopted this style for some projects of mine, mainly blogs as in my opinion, blogs should be easy on the eyes and using such designs helps maintain a good look while making sure the content is completely legible. I will say that pulling off the right look is harder than it looks though as without proper practice, your minimal design might be a bit too minimal giving the website a rather dull appearance.
