I'm with you on this one, Picard. Young Spark, what have you given to Microsoft in order for them to hand you over a free piece of software above-and-beyond what they're already giving you? (I've got free hardware from them, but that's another storey)

I for one will be happy if the only changes made to IE are in the realm of security. Sure, additional extras (like closer following of the W3C's standards, tabbed browsing, and so on) would be nice but far from essential.

In the end, if you don't like the changes being made to IE (or changes not being made...) then there is a very simple solution. Don't use IE.

On to the comments about AV protection, sure it might be nice to have it 100% integrated with a browser. But what if you have multiple browsers? What if you're using an email client? What about other programs accessing the 'net? Should they also be protected?.. I think so. A standalone AV application (whether free, or not) is IMO worth its weight in gold. If (for example) Firefox came with a built-in AV application, would people be satisfied with that and ignore the other ways of receiving viruses (virii)?

Food for thought.

Alright look, in the technology world today, only about 30%-40% online browsers have internet security suite's, not including the businesses and whatever. Now you ask what have we done for the free piece of software. To answer that, let's view something, what about all the problems their service packs have caused people. Alright, and to actually be quite obvious, view it from this angle. They were all shooken about the release of Firefox 1.0, well, for them to come out with such a good idea, they may actually make it somewhere.

Now I am realizing you said a free piece of software, to redefine my saying, I said a addon thatg allows for a pre-scan of the file your downloading to check for viruses or spyware content. So in actual saying, the best of the best, IE needs the most BEEFED up upgrade it can get.

Let's face it, their browsers sure aren't doing nothing right now, if you'd like to see some actual IT results. I am a member at another forum that a majority of people have actually voted Firefox 1.0 as their most recommended internet browser.

Now lastly, we're not talking about pieces of software, if I wanted a d**n free piece of software, I'd piracy it. And I am really f-ing pissed about the insult on my age and my technology knowledge that Picard is trying to say.

So in closing, the most recommended thing is to double check your status of what you know.

And here is what your IT people said in the poll:

Calm down guys! Friendly discussion

I'm quite excited about IE7, I currently use IE and have no need to switch browser. Any additional features or fixes they come up with are of benefit! I'm sure they understand the competition and Bill is going to pull something out of his sleeves!

I dont reallly care about this update, it's not going to improve on anything.

Just that MS are probably gonna stick in some stupid Non-Standard tags.

Again I'll say, there will be little or NO changes to the rendering engine.

Or you could ask about the people who cause most of the problems by themselves.

Good job, piracy certainly isn't illegal or anything.

Maybe you should "double check your status of understanding English", maybe then you could point out where I insulted your technowizard skills.
I'll save you the trouble of looking, I only insulted your naive version of the world and communistic ideas.

Then, whats the point in calling it version 7? They might as well call it 6.1

As I said in the first post. They either have some other pretty big features they want to introduce, or Bill Gates just wants to make a big annoncement of his own to cool the inferno that Firefox is making.
