  Old  Job Interview

I'm sure theres a lot of people here with real jobs that can help me out.

I have a job interview today for a job I really want.

How should I prepare for it? Is there anything I should bring? Should I bring a copy of my cover letter/resume even though I submitted them already?

Some help please!

Not that I have been to any job interviews, but we had something about them in school.
First of all, relax. Try to go to bed like 1-2 hours before you usually do. I don't know which job it is, but I am (almost) sure it wouldn't hurt to put on some nice clothes, not just a white tshirt and jeans.
Well, good luck!

EDIT: Just realised it is today (or was), so forget about the sleep thing

don't think about it as the job you really want..think of it like you are the person they've been looking for all along. sell yourself by being confident in your abilities and being personable. i know it's much harder to do, but knowing that you are more than capable of doing the job is important, but don't come off as arrogant.

yes, you should always bring copies of items you have already submitted. don't forget to bring your references as well.

if they like you, they'll ask you about salary/wages. don't give them a number. make them work for it. ask them what they typical rate is for the position for someone with your level of experience. you don't want to short-change yourself, and if the pay is less than what you are looking for, it opens it up for negotiation.

good luck

Sorry, just saw this thread and thought I would toss in my .02 worth of advice. And given my current 9-5 and as a past Store Manager for Radfio Shack I think I am pretty qualified. First of all in my current position I am a Technical Recruiter working for a 3rd party staffing company. What that means is that every day of the week I am trolling through resumes from the likes of Monster, Hot Jobs, Dice, Careerbuilder and then meeting and interviewing upwards of 15 "geeks" a week.

My biggest advice to anyone is go to the interview dressed professionally. Be informed about the company you are interviewing with (do your research!). Ask questions during the interview. It drives me crazy when I ask a candidate if they have any questions and they give me a deer in headlights gaze and say "nope, no questions." Don't give one word answers, explain yourself and be outgoing.

The one thing that got me my initial job at Radio Shack.....I asked for it. DON'T be afraid to ask for the job!

Hope this helps.

Don't forget to send a thank you letter personalized afterwards.

I suggest hand writtin.

Don't come off as needy but don't come off as ****y. :P

And dress nice. The only way you can overdress is to be decked out in a wedding suit. :P
