it depends on what i plan to get out of it. IF i feel after research that i have something unique, niche that will take off, and have a great earnings capacity, i will work out roughly how much i want / expect to make and base my budget on that, ill never spend a cent unless i have a plan for getting it back

I spent $15 on a month long banner once, a few dollars for text links. Probably havent spent over $40 in the past year on marketing.

When I get the money, 50-60% will go to paid ads, on top of that I will develope my PR and use gurrila marketing techniques..

It really depends, for some sites I invest much more than what they are making hoping that once they pick up they will give me those money back and much more, for some other sites not a single cent.

I find it hard enough to pay my own rent each fortnight- let alone spending the pittance thta I do get back into a company that i'm not affiliated with.
