  Old  Linking from other sites?

When linking from other sites, should I link with http://talkfreelance.com or http://www.talkfreelance.com? Does it make a difference? Also, do you get penalised if I exchange links with a site with a lower PR?

Well, I heard about this thing where someone, think it's ICANN is trying to stop the use of www. because it costs companies over $25 million a year or something, so I would say leave www. out

Leave it in, I believe you'll get a better pagerank on www. Which eventually leads to a better position

about linking with lower ranking PR's aprently you should only link with PR4 or above, other wise your PR will just get so low it will take a while to build up..

Use either one, but always be consistent. Consistency is what will build your PR

A classic case of how rumors start and continue to spread.

That can't be true. Think of WWW as a subdomain in any web site. I don't see how it can cost anyone anything, it has to do with the server configuration.

It was to do with time wasted in the workplace by typing "www", the whole thing was a rumor though

I see. I hate rumors :P

CNN reports that their employees take an extra 0.005 seconds to type three consecutive W's when typing in web addresses, resulting in millions of dollars lost annually! LOLLERZ!
