Old  What options should a forum have by default?

Working on a free open source forum script and looking to pick your minds for a second!

Which options WOULD YOU like to see in a free forum software.

Already complete or coming:
PM System
Calendar
SE friendly url's

Has a bit of AJAX already - again, what kind of AJAX would you like to see?

A digg like comment rate up and down of a forum post, where all the crappy replies would be hidden once they're rated down.

Does anyone ever use the calendar function on a forum? :-|

Competing against vbulletin, phpbb and invision... it's never going to happen unless you invest a shed load. If I were you I'd make the forum software focused on mobile use.

Mobile skin is easy to make - recognise phone and display, but didn't think about that! Great suggestion. Competing, I just hope people will like it more than PHPBB and MyBB - at the moment, it supports various database types too which is good. Anyway, at the end of the day, it's going to be 100% free.

Regarding the Calendar, I never use it either but people like checking birthdays sometimes, and for clubs etc... it's a great option too for meetings etc..
