I agree that an advertising banner should be aloud just as long as it's not a competitor with talkfreelance...

I still see nothing wrong with that. Technically TF is competing with SPF and Robson used their forums to promote TF.

These rules have been in place since TF was born, it just appears as tho the staff have let it slip...however i'm back here now Advertising is a privilege. If you want to advertise you can use the marketplace once a week or purchase advertising space.

EDIT - Viz, I didn't break their rules......you're breaking TF's rules.

I agree with the 468x50 rule. Allowing ad banners in signatures, basically defeats the point of paid advertising.

Never said you did, just find it strange how you were given a "privelege" and you don't let others have that privelege.

So if I resize my banner, stick it within the same URL tags I'm good to go?

It's a community, give a little get a little.

edit: Can I paste my banner code at the end of each post?

Image sigs aren't neccesary anyway. They're too flashy and don't match the flow of threads.

Well, you realise this community costs money to run? So that's why we actually sell advertising. If we allowed people to advertise in their signitures to the extent of other forums we wouldn't sell any spots each month.

Anyway, follow the rules and nothing is a problem.

On partner links alone there is $525 incomes, TF does not require a dedicated server so that is pently to keep up with the costs.

You may also want to check out the advertising page - "SOLD OUT UNTIL APRIL 14TH" - not really a turn on to buy something. Also I keep seeing threads being made asking why their advert wasn't added, get an automated system as I'm sure that's not motivating people to buy either.

So anyway consider smaller time spans, $50 is a lot to spend when it's the same visitors checking back each day. Offer 1 week slots and more people wil buy them.
